Werrington Grade Separation

Client – Network Rail             Main Contractor – Morgan Sindall            Subcontract Value – £3.5m    Year: – 2019/2020  Period: 42 Weeks

The scheme involves the construction of a 150 metre long RC portal offline, which is going to be jacked below the East Coast Mainline.

BFS were engaged under an ECI agreement prior to start to bring valuable input into the overall planning and buildability of this complex scheme with a very tight programme.


Lincoln Eastern Bypass

Client – Lincolnshire County Council Main Contractor – Galliford Try Subcontract Value – £2.5m    Year: – 2019/2020  Period: 60 Weeks

The scheme involved the construction of 7 Bridges on the new Lincoln Eastern Bypass.

One of the bridges, River Witham Bridge, has a 250m span crossing several watercourses. The abutments on River Witham Bridge were 11m high which presented a number of challenges on rebar stability which had to be overcome.


Whittlingham STW

Client – Anglian Water  Year – 2019/2020

Main Contractor: – @ONE Alliance Subcontract Value – £3.5m

This scheme involves the full civils scope associated with a constructing a new Precast 45m dia. FST, associated 1000mm dia. pipework, new inlet works basement along with a 4m deep pumping station, manholes, ducts and drawpits. BFS were part of the project team assisting with design and planning development from the early design stage under an a ECI agreement as part of our tier 2 framework with Anglian Water.


Nene Bridge Pier Strengthening

Client – Peterborough City Council Main Contractor – Skanska  Subcontract Value – £1.8m    Year: – 2018/2019  Period: 40 Weeks

The scheme involves the strengthening of 4 pairs of piers on the Nene bridge crossing on the Peterborough Parkway.

The existing piers required thickening whilst maintaining the award winning complex facetted shapes which require a great deal of engineering and planning expertise. Due to limitations on craneage air skids were successfully used to move the formwork.


Norwich NNDR

Client – Norfolk County Council Main Contractor – Balfour Beatty  Subcontract Value – £3.7m    Year: – 2016/2017  Period: 65 Weeks

The scheme involves the construction of 8 bridges on the new Norwich Northern Distribution Road.

One of the bridges spans a Rail Line and involved detailed planning/programming including possession working.


Wickford

Client – Anglian Water  Main Contractor – @One Alliance  Subcontract Value – £1.7m

Upgrading of Wickford WRC consisted a full civil scope of works, including the construction of the filter feed pumping station, installation of a 26.6m precast humus tank with in-situ elements, bulk earthworks and muck away, above ground pipework installation, installation of site Services and refurbishment of existing trickling filter beds. All works completed 2 months ahead of our Contract Completion date.


Kedington

Main Contractor – @One Alliance  Subcontract Value – £350k

New clean water treatment works for Anglian Water’s @One Alliance.

Construction of numerous reinforced concrete structures including Pump slab, Surge Vessel, Pressure filters, Fuel and Generator bund and Contact tank. Delivered on programme in 14 weeks.


Louth WTW

Client – Anglian Water  Main Contractor – @One Alliance  Subcontract Value – £600K

This project was part of our Tier 2 Framework with the @One Alliance & Anglian Water. This project involved constructing a Pumping Station Jacking Beam, Tertiary Slab, Caisson and other associated works.  Working closely with AW Staff, on a tight site, the project was completed on time, on budget and to the high standards AW expect from a Tier 2 Framework Partner.


Hemingford

Client – Private Client  Subcontract Value – £1.05m

Construction of a reinforced concrete spa, treatment and pool complex in Cambridgeshire.
This complex large domestic build comprises of a water tight basement and sub- basement, piled foundations and was adjacent to a Grade 3 listed building.

All constructed using a pedestrian Tower crane with a 3T WLL, the complicated variety of floor levels and supporting members is nearing completion with the client extremely satisfied with the quality and professionalism with which it has been delivered.”


Clay Mills STW

Client – Severn Trent Water  Main Contractor – MWH Treatment Limited  Subcontract Value – £1.6M

This scheme involved the construction of a large insitu concrete ASP tank, interstage pumping station, sludge thickener building as well as numerous other ancillary structures. The project was undertaken on an NEC3 – Option C target cost with activity schedule basis. Difficult access to the site, crossing a busy rail line, was overcome by BFS being involved in early planning to ensure concrete pours were kept to manageable levels.


Abberton Reservoir

Client – Essex and Suffolk Water  Main Contractor – Carillion  Subcontract Value – £2.2M

The most technically challenging project ever faced by Bell formwork. The works included lining a 100m long existing brick tunnel, lining various existing walls and shafts of up to 15m deep and constructing a new 15m tall reinforced concrete superstructure to the new offtake pumping station. The project spanned over a 3 year period and involved complex and intricate temporary works design all undertaken ‘in house’.


Nuneaton Hartshill Cake Storage

Client – Severn Trent Water  Main Contractor – Costain  Subcontract Value – £86K

This project involved the construction of a large cake storage area that was delivered ahead of programme, despite a prolonged period of wet weather.


Elsham WTW

Client – Anglian Water  Main Contractor – GTM  Subcontract Value – £0.5M

This project involved the construction of a new Precast concrete Mussel trap and microstrainer and a fully insitu RGF tank, Clarifier tank with other associated structures. The scheme involved several fasttrack elements all of which were successfully delivered on time.


Wing WTW

Client – Anglian Water  Main Contractor – GTM  Subcontract Value – £4.5M

This large project involved the construction of a new GAC, RGF and DAFF plant along with a large contact tank and storage lagoon. A very challenging programme was achieved through good planning and liaison by the whole delivery team.


Cardiff AD Plant

Client – Welsh Water  Main Contractor – Morgan Sindall  Subcontract Value – £2.1M

This energy from waste plant in cardiff involved the construction of 2 nr 21m diameter 21m high insitu reinforced concrete digester tanks as well as a large cake storage building with mezzanine floor and other associated process building bases. Adverse winds were the one of the biggest time challenges on this scheme and in order to ensure that the delivery date was achieved a prolonged period of night working was employed.


Little Melton WTW

Client – Anglian Water  Main Contractor – Skanska  Subcontract value £1.1M

This scheme involved the construction of a main service reservoir, contact tank, RGF and dirty backwash tank as well as other smaller associated structures. The Subcontract was completed under NEC Option C Target Cost conditions.
